Things are looking up!

Today has been a successful session, with a lot of things coming together. We had a good turnout and the atmosphere in the lab was both positive and hopeful that we may actually be finished on time.

The Visitors

Some of our parts have arrived! Our line sensors have made their way to us through the post and are ready to be screwed onto our robot. Luke knows where they are going, and hopefully will be making his way to the elctronics lab over this week to drill some holes and screw everything down. We have also tested them with the pi and they are working well which is nice.

We were hoping for a nice, easy, gentle return to our robot after New Year. Unfortunately, that was not to be.

Our final meeting of the year

Today is our final meeting of the year and despite missing some members due to choir rehearsals and an attitude of what I am going to define as it’s-the-day-before-we-break-up-I’m-not-coming, we have ploughed on with our work. The chassis is sorted, our nerf gun has been disassembled and reassembled, photos are being taken of everyone for the blog, and I have (most of) a shopping list for the parts we still need for our robot.

Chassis Progress

After missing last week’s meeting due to an unfortunately timed cold, I was happy to arrive in the lab today to see a nerf gun, several people coding and (thankfully) a chassis with all four motors working.

Nerf or Nuthin'

This week my main focus was the Zombie Apocalypse challenge, as we had decided to use an actual nerf gun for this one and I was curious to see how exactly that was going to work.

A half term into joining Robotics here at DCGS, I am simultaneously impressed and concerned by the amount of work we have managed to get done.
